Sorry for not being able to keep my comments up-to-date on the blog. I returned from Yamanashi on Friday. I uploaded a group photo we took at last practice for September's main picture. I hope you will enjoy the different "natsukuashii" faces! We're unfortunate to lose a valuable shidouin but I'm sure Nagaie-san will work hard in Hakata protecting Japan's coastal waters.
Richard Sensei, did you receive the photos that Furuya-san took at last practice and Enkai? If not, I will e-mail them to you. I just came back from Sea Horse where we held Nagaie-san's last Enkai party. I'm sure Iwasaki-san will be delighted to send you a copy of the "omoshiroi" funny video we took of Nagaie-san in a sailor fuku outfit.笑
Well, off to an early start tomorrow! I hope the alcohol will wear off by then.
おはよう、師範代(^^) Fufu. I can see that the "adult only" farewell party went well....you spelled your name wrong! Gahahahaha. Furuya san sent me three photos (one group photo and 2 of the farewell at the Chinese restaurant). If there is more floating around, please send them. Ahhhhhmmm. Make sure not to send the "Saira-fuku" on the blog, I do not want to make Nagaie Shidouin "infamous" (**;). For Hawaii and New York friends, "Seira-fuku" (Sailor outfit) is the school dress worn by Japanese school girls. In has developed into a speparate culture from its original purpose. (- -;). Imagine if you will Bruto or Popeye in one.......Sigh....... William, good to see all the familiar and new faces. Please send my regards to all. Hope to see y'all in April 2011! By the way, looks as though you've lost some weight and Kyon Kyon gained??? Gahahaha There are some faces missing, bring me up to date on those when you can. OSU! Look foward to the video. Had to be Kyon Kyon Senpai that planned it!
Hello from New York Roushiichi and William, Shihandai
Sounds like that was some farewell party for Nagaie san. I am guessing that one would need a good amount of sake before they dress in traditional "seira-kuku". I know this might surprise you but I think I know the school dress. I taught anatomy to a young lady that studied here last year in Osaka, and she had pictures of herself, riding her bike to school in her school dress. I understand there is "inspection" of the dress also? I was thinking that the Japanese Naval Officers would pay good money to have those photos. I know in my there are a few of me at the PBA Christmas Party, from my old department, in Mechanicville PD that I hope never see the light of day.
Nice Dojo picture! I am sure that it will be treasured by Nagaie-san. In the end, its these kinds of days, that karate is all about, for me.
(**:)Gaaaah! Tony...it is "seira fuku" not "kuku" which in some places mean crazy. Which reminds me! I came accross a karate book at B&N and lo and behold it had geri instead of keri!! I forgot what the waza was, but it used geri in front.... (^^) Too bad the editing staff did not know better! An old trick by Japanese HS girls was to roll up the hem while outside campus and when reaching campus roll it back down to inspection standards. Fufu. Tony, better hope none of your PD buddies read this blog and submit a photo form the past! Gahahaha. (^^) I am eagerly awaiting arrival of the evidence of debauchery from Yokohama.
Greetings Richard Sensei, Tony Sensei et al.
